Project: developmental toddler toys

Client: Mobi Games, Inc.

Capabilities: research // design // PROTOTYPE // manufacturing

CLIENT REQUEST: A game company wanted to introduce a way to combine their fun side with helping little ones develop and learn along the way.

THE CHALLENGE: Create simple but multidimensional toys with one primary material that’s not only safe for all kiddos but grows with them as they develop. This was incredibly tempting to overcomplicate as getting moving parts to function well required lots of prototyping and sampling.

THE APPROACH: We examined a plethora of varied concept sketches to ensure there would be prolonged engagement with the toy in addition to allowing for many parts to be grabbed, chewed on, gawked at, etc. Essentially, we wanted engagement with all the senses, except probably smell. We brought a fresh and color palette that helped the products stand out visually while, through lots of tweaks and safety testing, realized silicone was the primary material to be used due to its child-safe (and easy to hold and chew on) properties.

THE RESULTS: A suite of three developmental, multi-sensory toddler toys that keep little ones engaged in multiple growth stages due to their multifacetedness. And not to brag (but to brag), the Zippee also won the 2020 ABC Expo Best New Product Award.

Möbi Games Inc. was created to reflect our shared passions and values: having fun and finding joy in what we do, connecting to people while unplugging from things, making a difference in the lives we touch and embracing learning wherever and whenever possible.
